Luminous Oblivion is the pseudonym of an enigmatic Atlanta artist who builds exquisite light installations. Their work is shrouded in mystery and filled with esoteric meaning; their hanging lightboxes evoke the retro-futurist industrial aesthetic of classic sci-fi, while their lamps recall the structures of ancient temples and art deco design. These works are designed to entrance the viewer and draw them into strange new worlds, but they are also fully functional light sources, a perfect blend of artistic expression and practical craftsmanship.
When asked for comment about their work, Luminous Oblivion released the following statement:
“It is revealed that great edifices and alloys, impregnated by corrosion and neglect, deliver the Spirit from the truth-inverting fetters of structure and control. Artifacts and monuments may not be indelibly written in the Ledger of Transgressions. Let the weather of time and will-to-become be modes of deliverance from the sepulchre of precision and permanence. Descending out of time is the desolation of the Mechanistic Objectivist; the ruins of unearned order.”
Modes Of Deliverance will be on display at Rampant Gallery from September 28 – October 26.
