In Due Time

January 24 – February 21, 2026

Coming to Rampant Gallery on January 24th – “In Due Time,” a solo exhibition by Jay Michael Balmes

Jay Michael Balmes is an Atlanta-based visual artist working in abstract expressionism through acrylic and ink. His therapeutic approach to art-making translates music, emotion, and subconscious processing into gestural compositions. A self-taught artist who emerged onto the NYC art scene in 2011 as a Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series Regional Finalist, Balmes has exhibited nationally and collaborated on various partnerships and activations with brands including PUMA, Urban Outfitters, Faith Connexion, and more. Beyond his studio practice, he teaches mindful art instruction and advocates for arts education.

“In Due Time,” his first solo exhibition in Atlanta, brings together works created across three cities over a transformative period of growth and self-discovery.
These abstract compositions in acrylic and ink were born in New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta-each piece a snapshot of evolution, belief, and the patience required to trust the journey.

The exhibition takes its name from OutKast and Cee-Lo’s “In Due Time,” a song that mirrors the artist’s experience: holding patience, disrupting expectations, and believing that everything unfolds when it’s meant to. For Balmes, whose work is deeply influenced by music, the song became both inspiration and affirmation during a period of growth and change.

Working intuitively with paint and ink, Balmes uses abstraction as a form of therapy-translating emotion, rhythm, and subconscious processing into visual language. The gestural marks and layered compositions invite viewers to find their own meaning, their own moments of transition, trusting that what is meant to be will be – All In Due Time.

“In Due Time” will be on display at Rampant Gallery 1/24 – 2/21. Please join us for the opening reception on January 24th from 5-9 PM.
